Habits are like a cable. We weave a strand of it every day and soon it cannot be broken. — Horace Mann
I’ve been looking to make a blog for quite some time now but I’ve not gotten around to it until this evening. Its raining outside and it has been since Sunday. Now being Tuesday without a steady let in the showers I’ve been left feeling like Benjamin Franklin deserves some praise for being so right in one of his many Poor Richard’s Almanack maxims in which he states “After three days men grow weary, of a wench, a guest, & weather rainy.” released far back in 1733 playing part in marking the dawn of his adventure into that collection of write ups that lasted until 1758.
I can’t hope to be as delightful and as insightful as Mr. Franklin was in his writings but I hope to bring the readers of my blog something of the sort that makes stopping by worth while. This is my first venture in writing to a public audience so I may be a bit shabby as we get the ball rolling here but as time moves on you will find what I share here to be that of a genuine sort. I will write to you as if I am writing to my own son or to my beloved as you deserve nothing less than that as I believe we are both two parts of one.
If you’re still hanging in there, my name is Jordan. I live in Dayton Ohio at this moment in 2020, which has been quite a year. I’m 26 years old. Through this blog I hope to give back to those that tune in as I develop myself and experience life from here forward. I run a small business that revolves around fungi, called MycoPals. I’ve a keen interest in fungi and its benefits in all fields of study for the planet and for our species.
Apart from my fungal interests I maintain a focus on personal development. In recent years I have become a fervent reader finishing over 50 books focused on topics ranging from fungal biology, neuroscience, personal development in all sorts of aspects, philosophy, and most recently touching on a few interesting autobiographical reads. I will leave a link in a button to my GoodReads profile below, which I created on a suggestion from my significant other and I love it, where you can keep tabs on my progress. Feel free to pick and choose from my prior reads in which I leave reviews for your own gain.
From the short time I’ve spent here on earth, I’ve gathered through personal experience a deep seated belief that each individual is capable of making great progress towards self actualization no matter their situation in life. Maybe you’ve been on that path for awhile now, or maybe yours is just starting.
I’m looking forward to growing and if you stop in here from time to time to appreciate what I do. Thank you. I made this for me just as much as I made this for you and I hope you come to find what you are looking for as I go along. I’ll leave you with this until tomorrow.
Happy is the man who finds wisdom,
Proverbs NKJV
And the man who gains understanding;
For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver,
And her gain than fine gold.
She is more precious than rubies,
And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her
Length of days is in her right hand,
In her left hand riches and honor.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
And all her paths are peace.
Blessed is the man who finds wisdom,
the man who gains understanding,
for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.
