Spending Time Spending

Americans alone spent 5.47 trillion dollars just in the retail sector last year in 2019, according to Liam O’Connell, a research expert covering retail sales. Think of all the things you’ve spent money on growing up. I can personally recall quite a bit of complete waste in my wake when it comes to finances. I’m sure quite a few of us are guilty of the same in one way or another but we live and learn right? Hopefully.

Odds are that we took part in that collective 5.47 trillion dollar shopping spree in 2019. Almost unavoidable in today’s world but lets take a moment to look a some of the finer details to our spending. How much of that money left our pockets and went straight to our brain? Hopefully not actually but this can be done and not only in the form of a dopamine release when we get what we want. Take a moment to consider how much of this spending was spent with your mental development in mind?

Hopefully quite a bit of it but if things are looking bleak, no worries! There are many ways to invest in such a thing. My personal favorite is surely through purchasing books. They’ve changed my outlook on life and they’ve dramatically altered the trajectory of my future in a rather short span of time. The world is full of things to buy and the moment we choose to invest in our minds rather than our bodies or our dwellings the possibilities are endless.

I wish for you contentment, peace, and fulfillment.
