Power Struggle

The other day I noticed that my blog had a viewer that was said to reside in Tanzania. I now have come to understand that this country exists in East Africa and it is said to be known for having a vast wilderness. This is one of many landscapes out there unique in itself and completely set apart from what I experience through my eyes on a day to day basis. Before yesterday, I didn’t even know a country named Tanzania existed.

Having been born in the 90s I have experienced quite a few changes in my short time here. Some of them I was far too young to even understand as I soaked in the experiences flitting in through my eyes. Boxy bubble like televisions, floppy disks, cassette tapes, and the classic VHS were among just a few of those things around while I was growing up. When they were there they were certainly taken for granted as the technology of the time. It goes without saying that times have definitely changed.

I won’t bore you with a list of the latest and greatest but I do want to draw your attention to the fact that we are very connected here in today’s world. In the 1960’s there existed ARPA net but that wasn’t available to the general public, the internet wasn’t truly brought to the masses until much later in the 90s and the early 2000s. Such a tremendous technology it is and it is shocking how early into this venture we are. The 90s are not too far gone and we are still learning how to use the internet today.

It may seem quite obvious to us that the internet is a way to connect with others but are we really utilizing this tool to its full potential ourselves? It holds the capability to spread your voice across an ocean in the matter of an instant and the ability to move great sums of money from your hand to another or vice versa. This technology puts great power into the hands of those with access to it and we are seeing the effects of such worlds over. It’s time we begin to be seen in a new way, one not possible years ago.

Without the internet if you wanted to advertise a product or promote an idea you had few options. The newspaper, the street corner, the television, or the radio are among some of the fish that can easily be plucked from the surface of my mind. You could have gotten a little into what you were doing and gotten creative too but that’s not the point. The point here is that what once seemed so unobtainable to those without the funds or popularity is now possible with just an internet connection.

It’s really never too late to start either. If you’ve got a method of communication the internet has the capability to bring it to anyone who is lucky enough to stroll along into it. Through this medium we can create bodies of work. These bodies of work can be used as a platform that shows others who we are, what we are about, and possibly even where we are going. I believe that these places will be extremely useful in the future to those of us who are out there showing the world what we are capable of. Starting today? Drop me a line below and let me know. I want to be there.

I wish for you happiness, success, growth, and personal sovereignty. Take care!
