Life has quite the complex web of experiences to offer. There are more ways to exist than one could possibly imagine. You could be someone bringing home locally foraged goods for your family to dine on upon the dinner table or you could be spending your days commandeering a crab fishing vessel at sea. From ocean, forest, desert landscapes to corporate desk and cubical the realities us humans exist within could stand to leave someone breathless even.
Each of these experiences have their own bag of insights to share. If you took one person on a week long journey seeing through the eyes of many across the globe they’d come back with changes perspectives. Seeing through the eyes of a middle aged man going pedal to the metal in his new hotrod, spending a day as the hungry child, or gazing across the savannah from the perspective of a poacher bring with it an educational cornucopia. Just imagine how much you might learn.
While we cannot simply skim the world for the collective experiences of others, we can manipulate our own experiences in profound ways. By pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zones and into new realms of learning, experiencing, or understanding we challenge our current status quo and move into undocumented mental territory. This is where the real meat of the learning begins. It is just outside of where you reside most comfortably and it is always within your reach.
