When we work on ourselves who are we doing it for? Some people improve for their children, their family, for their mental well being, for the benefit of those around them, and most certainly for themselves. The answer to this question can vary widely and it would take some time to come up with all of the possible responses to such a question. If we look at this objectively though we can see that in almost all situations we work on ourselves for our future self. That future self may be two minutes from now, five years, or even twenty.
Throughout our lives our future self is watching in an interesting way. If we are granted such a future they will see through their minds eye precisely the decisions and actions we take, even our reasons why we do what we do. These scenes will be played in the mind of that future self like a movie from another time, you will be the only one in the theater. What will that future self be like? The answer to this is determined entirely by the actions we take here and now.
Wouldn’t it be great to be able to travel through time? It certainly would be a convenient technology. The great thing is that we can, forwards not backwards. No, unfortunately not in the way you were anticipating. Our future self is here right now and it always has been. It is learning how to see and how to be. By learning to see through the eyes of our future self as it will see clearly through the eyes of our current self we can sculpt the lives we wish to live like an artist can create magnificent sculpture from marble.
I wish for you sincere fulfillment, contentment, and happiness.
“Let your mind become a lens, thanks to the converging rays of attention; let your soul be all intent on whatever it is that is established in your mind as a dominant, wholly absorbing idea.”
